Competition Results The Carnegie Mellon Robotics Club brought Jim 2 to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Walking Machine Decathalon, held on April 27-29, 2000. The competition was hosted by Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The competition consisted of ten events, scored by relative times of the competitors, with bonuses for autonomy. Each team also had to prepare a poster paper and give a technical presentation.

Of the eight events completed by Jim 2, all were run autonomously and all were completed in less time than any of the other ten robots. The Carnegie Mellon team won special awards for "Excellence in Autonomy" and "Best Technical Presentation." Jim 2's combined total score gave the team a strong first place finish.
